Literature Text

Furl the flag
And drape the sail
These travels have
Taken me by the tail
Tossed me about
Left me drawn and pale
Lost in doubt
No breath to hail

I'm laying down for you
There's nothing else I'd care to do
But seek surcease
In release

Shelve the book
And darken the halls
My fingers gone numb
Climbing the walls
My head hangs hollow
Ringing with the calls
No way to discern
Their direction at all

I'm laying down at last
Forget-me-nots all through the past
To shroud destiny
With lethargy

Lock the door
And nail the case
Mark the X
And then erase
The footsteps dragged
The pathways worn
The highest crags
The roughest storms

I'm laying down and out
Too hoarse and exhausted to shout
To gain repentance
Through silence
Making self-ostracism fun!
(for 20 Years?!)
