Cozying up
By the fireside
And the embers dying light.
Feelin' better than allright.
Soakin' up the heat.
Man, this can't be beat.
With me and a friend
Stretched out end to end,
Basking in the afterglow,
Feelin' our blood run slow.

Hear the cracking
Of the timber
Crumbling to ash.
Hear the hissing
Of the serpents.
Watch their tongues dart and lash.
Feel the smoke
Burn your eyes.
Unconscious, you're not there.
See the light
Smoulder inside your head
As you stretch out without a care.

Outside is cold and bitter.
The wind screams furiously.
Trees reach like skeletons to the sky,
But the storm offers them no pity.
White claws rake against the walls,
Howling to be let in.
The rafters shudder at the thought,
Ice covering its skin.
Inside all is drowsy and warm
Like the cave of the jaws of death.
Huddled around the flickering spark,
Holding tight to every breath.
This was 'sparked' by Calvin and Hobbes
Then it got away from me
They usually do
